It is separated from the southern bay of Ostrowiec only by a narrow strip of impenetrable wetlands. In the past it most probably was connected to Lake Ostrowiec. The water exchange in Perkoz is caused by evaporation and by contact with underground waters. The reception basin of Perkoz has total area of 2,8ha and is overgrown mostly (90%) by beech and oak forests.

A steep slope of a hill that separates Perkoz from Czarne is situated by the east bank of Perkoz. The difference in land rise reaches 16,5m in this 100m of area. This lake is very prone to degradation and the purity of its water is only of the 3rd degree. In summertime there is an oxygen free zone near the bottom of the lake.
